What do you want your riders to get/feel from your classes?
Overcoming challenges is all about moving past mental barriers that we set for ourselves - the doubts, the excuses, the fears, and the insecurities. Whether it's the decision to stand when you could remain seated, adding resistance when each pedal stroke is already heavy, or persevering right to the last beat when you could stop, there is something we can change each ride that we will grow from.
When I make the decision as a rider to move past my comfort zone and show up even when I want to quit, I leave those doors feeling proud, accomplished and so damn happy. That's the feeling I want for my riders. No matter what kind of day you're having - if you're willing to get out of your own head - you will leave feeling better than when you arrived (but also much more sweaty... so, so sweaty).
What motivates you to jump on the bike every class?
As a Nova Scotian there are some important things that you learn to embrace in life: fostering a strong sense of community; seeing music as a way of connecting; always making people feel welcome; and, throwing a damn good party. SPINCO is all of these things, so it's easy to love, because it feels like home.
Favourite quote to live by:
"Exercise is a form of self-respect."
Where can we find you off the bike?
Playing sports, teaching fitness classes, or enjoying the outdoors with friends - likely always petting a dog at all times.
